On this day, 50 years ago, a 5’3″ woman was trying to push a 9-1/2 lb baby through the birth canal only to end up having a c-section. Sorry if that was TMI, but that is how I came into this world. Fifty years later, I’m still toting around some of that baby fat. As I woke up this morning, I was wondering if I was going to feel any different; just the usual aches and pains, like any other morning but I was breathing and alive so off to work I go.
I had a lovely greeting this morning on my office door; an old Magnum PI picture of Tom Selleck. It was a great way to start off the day. This years celebration is much more low key than it was 10 years ago for my 40th. And I’m okay with that. A year ago at this time, I started this blog. I can’t believe a year has gone by so fast. I was planning for my trip and making up birthday and Christmas lists with items I would need for my trip. Little did I know that less than 2 months later, I would be diagnosed with cancer. Now that has come and gone, I’m here, alive and kicking and able to talk about it. Just a little bump in the road.
As I begin the second half of this journey, one thing I have to look forward to is a colonoscopy in the coming year 😦 but also the chance to look into trying some new adventures and opportunities. I don’t know what the future has in store, but that’s what makes it exciting.
Happy Birthday to Me!
